I never expected to be in the coffee business.

I’m Nicolas Idrovo, the one writing this, the one behind this website, and the one working to grow our business here in Miami. But before this—before the brands, the recognition, and bringing Cafering to the U.S.—it all started back home in Ecuador, where my older brother, Mario Idrovo, built something that had never been done before.

The First Coffee Catering Service in Ecuador

When Mario founded Cafering in 2016, there was nothing like it in Ecuador—no premium coffee carts, no high-end mobile espresso services, no way for brands to integrate specialty coffee into their events. He changed that. He built something completely new, combining elite coffee craftsmanship with brand activation. And it worked.

Big brands caught on. TikTok, American Express, Toyota, McDonald’s they all saw the value in what we did. Our setups didn’t just serve coffee; they drew people in, created experiences, and made brands stand out. 70% of the clients who brought us to expos? They won awards for having the best stand.

Bringing That Same Success to Miami

Now, we’re here—Mario, recognized as an industry leader, and me, figuring out how to bring our business to this new market.

Mario didn’t just build a business—he built a career in coffee at the highest level. He’s a World Barista Championship competitor, SCA Authorized Trainer, Q Grader, and has trained and certified hundreds of professional baristas. His expertise was so recognized that the U.S. awarded him an Extraordinary Talent Visa, something only given to the top professionals in their field.

And me? I’m the one making it happen here.

I built this website. I’m learning the skills. I’m figuring out how to grow a business, build connections, and create opportunities—just like my brother did.

The funny thing is, when I started, I didn’t even like coffee.

I didn’t get it at first. Why would people pay for coffee at their event? But then I started booking events myself. In September 2024, I sent hundreds of messages to event planners, conferences, and businesses, trying to get our first clients here in Miami. And when I started going to the events we booked, I saw it firsthand—guests lighting up when they saw their logos printed on coffee, lines of people waiting, smiles, photos, engagement.

That’s when I got it.

Even me—someone who wasn’t a fan of coffee—could see how much joy and excitement this brought to people. And over time, even I started to like the taste of it.
